Hello, my name is Dustin...

and this is me in Japan!

I am passionate about playing piano and empowering others to learn to play.

Born and raised in Alaska, I started piano lessons when I was 14 years old with Leslie Noyes, a loving and encouraging teacher who taught me to play with my heart.

While some would say that is a late start, I believe it’s never too late if you’re truly passionate about learning to play.

At the age of 17, my family moved to San Antonio, where I continued taking lessons under Marsha Perkins, a prominent,  gifted and dedicated instructor, who sold me my first piano. She encouraged me to enter many statewide and national competitions, and under her guidance, I performed with great success, placing first in a number of them, also being awarded the highest music scholarship offered at UTSA. While at UTSA I  found myself fortunate to study under renowned pianist and composer       Dr. ElisendaFabregas

I have had the opportunity to teach piano and music classes in Alaska, California, Georgia, and Texas. Offering private piano lessons and group lessons. Teaching from pre-school group piano and music lesson to advanced private piano lessons.  My students have varied from neighbors next door to children of our very own San Antonio SPURS players.

I  recently served as a Board Member of the San Antonio Music Teachers Association.

I have held a piano studio at the Washburn Piano Store in Alaska, as an instructor at the San Antonio Music Academy, group piano lessons at preschools, and private piano instruction.

In January of 2014, my wife and I decided that It's time I do what is important to me. I can't think of anything that is more gratifying as a "job", than teaching piano. Currently, I am teaching piano "Full Time" from my home studio, and a full-time dad and husband.

My family is currently made up of my lovely wife, our son Felix, and our daughter Dustin Jr. 2 dogs and their sister cat…who they love to chase.

I enjoy spending my free time with my wife and son, gardening, working with plants, playing piano, researching composers and their scores, playing chess, writing poetry, making music with friends and running with my dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to read my “about me” section.

Best of Luck and Hard Work!
Sincerely,
Dustin S.
